Christmas Tradition at Gentex Optics

A Christmas tradition continues at Gentex Optics in Dudley. For the eleventh consecutive year the employees there hosted a giving tree in their lobby filled with tags of items from a child’s wish list.

Lorraine Ostrokolowicz, Senior Human Resources Consultant at Gentex said, “Their generosity touches us all. As everyone knows times are a little tougher this year, but we didn’t focus on that, we just hoped that our employees would think of the children first as they have in the past and help make the holidays brighter for some local children in need this Christmas. I’m pleased to say our staff continues to give from the heart. We’re proud to be a part of the Dudley community. Although we are a worldwide organization, for the employees of this facility our hearts and roots are here” she said.

Shannon Spitz Human Resources manager noted that the Giving Tree was something their employees look forward to. “It’s part of our culture here at Gentex to give back to the community. We truly believe there is joy in giving.”

Gifts from the staff at Gentex were donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Webster and Dudley, an organization serving local youth since 1958 and one of the fifteen agencies funded in part by the United Way of Webster and Dudley who helps coordinate the project each year.

Tony Poti, Executive Director at the Boys and Girls Club said that Christmas would be much brighter for many kids at the Club because of the kindness displayed by the Gentex staff. “ Today’s families face many challenges. It’s gratifying to know that there are many companies and individuals here in our community that are willing to make sure that the children have a happy holiday season. As a United Way agency we truly appreciate all their support.
