WEBSTER – The Bartlett Indians and second year head coach Jonathan Way have only one way to go this season and that’s up.
Following a dismal 4-14 campaign, the Indians will be looking to turn things around this season and their quest for respectability starts in Fiskdale against Tantasqua Regional on Friday, March 29, at 3:30.
Way has plenty of talent returning, including junior hurler Evan Anderson, senior second baseman Billy Phillips, versatile Justin Caro, third baseman Anthony Higbie and up-and-comer catcher Ryan Sullivan. It could be an interesting season for the Green.
If they can get some pitching to supplement Anderson, and it appears Chris Czernicki, who spent most of last year with the junior varsity, could be in the mix, the Indians should improve.
Following their first six games, the Indians will host the first annual Indian Classic on April 16.
The four-team baseball tournament will include Blackstone Valley Tech, Blackstone-Millville Regional, Weston High School, and host Bartlett High School.
There will be two preliminary games at 1p.m, one at Bartlett and the other at the Upper Athletic Field, a consolation game at 4:00 p.m. at the Upper Athletic, and a championship game under the lights at 7:00 p.m. at the Upper Athletic Field.
