WOODSTOCK - Avis Spalding, wife of the late Paul S. Spalding and lifelong resident of Woodstock died Sunday, January 6, 2013.

She was the daughter of the late Wallace and Frances (Gordon) Frink.  She married Paul in 1950 and together they ran a family farm for 36 years.  During that time, Avis served on the Woodstock Board of Education, acting as Chair for 13 of the 17 years she served.  She also served on the Woodstock Academy Board of Trustees for 25 plus years and was a member of the Woodstock Theft Detecting Society.  Additionally, she served on many other boards and committees.

She leaves four children, Susan Harris, Sabin Spalding, Wayne Spalding and his wife Eve, Seth Spalding and his wife DeEtta, all of Woodstock; eight grandchildren, Jared, Benton, Jamison, Travis, Kyle, Scott, Carilee, and Alana; four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the East Woodstock Congregational Church, 220 Woodstock Road, East Woodstock on Friday, January 11, 2013, beginning at  2pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the East Woodstock Congregational Church, P.O.
