Bertha A. Bartolomei, 87

Dudley – Bertha A. “Buzzy” (McAvoy) Bartolomei, age 87, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Chris “Kiki” Bartolomei; two daughters, Joyce Johnson and her husband Wayne, and Linda Bartolomei; one son, Chris Bartolomei and his wife Sandi, all of Dudley; five grandchildren, Lauri Jankowski and her husband Chris of Grafton, Kelly Sanders and her husband Michael of Concord, NH, David Johnson and his wife Maryann of Dudley, Amanda Bartolomei of Worcester and Jenna Bartolomei of Boston; seven great-grandchildren, Camryn, Matthew and Nicholas Jankowski, Clayton and Gavin Sanders and Valerie and Samantha Johnson. She is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Bartolomei and her husband Charles, Theresa Sweeney and her husband Patrick; several nieces and nephews. Buzzy was predeceased by ten of her siblings.

 

She was born in Rochdale, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Frederick and Eva (Jewell) McAvoy and lived in Dudley most of her life. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Bartolomei Fruit and Produce Store in Webster. She had also been employed at Gatzke Hardware. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, laughing, playing cards, keno, baking, reading and most importantly - spending time with her family.

 

A private Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Overlook Hospice, 88 Masonic Road, Charlton, MA 01507.
