MILLBURY/DUDLEY -- Evangeline (Vangie) M. Darling, 88 of Millbury passed away on 2/13/13 at Southbridge Rehab & Health Care Ctr. surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted mother and friend. Her door was always open and nothing made her happier than being with her family.
She leaves her daughters, Sheila Kelley, Nancy Chauvin and her husband, Bernard of Dudley, and Rosanna DesRosiers of Southbridge; 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She is also survived by her nephews Roland Chausse, Frank and Nicholas Neri and Godson, Ronny Vaillancourt. She is predeceased by 2 sons, Rocky and Kevin Darling; 2 sisters, Rosanna Chausse and Laura Neri.
She was born in Millbury, daughter of Francis and Evelena Barrette. She was an avid sportswoman at Millbury H.S. and thoroughly enjoyed watching her Boston Red Sox. Vangie was a hard working woman holding various jobs to support her family, starting as a young lady during WWII as an electricians apprentice at Felters Mill in Millbury. She will be remembered for her gentle, generous and kind heart, good humor and love of family.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Cheryl Chauvin, devoted granddaughter and care giver, for her compassionate loving care and dedication to “her Meme” in the past 5 years. Also thanking Summit Elder Services, Dr. Fields and his team, along with the staff at Southbridge Rehab & Health Care Ctr. for the wonderful and excellent care given to Vangie. Her Funeral will be Held Tuesday Feb. 19 from Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel 33 Schofield Ave.
