WEBSTER - Georgette M. (St. Martin) Scarglia, 76, of Webster, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at home with family at her side.

She leaves 3 children: Darleen M. Socha and her husband Richard of Webster, Christine B. Carruthers and her husband Mark of Winston-Salem, NC, and Dino D. Scarglia and his wife Kathleen of Greensboro, NC; 6 grandchildren, Tara Karapanos and her husband James, Jesse Meagher, Kate Kaczmarek, Stephanie Scarglia, Anthony Scarglia and Gina Scarglia; 4 great grandchildren, Peter and Chloe Karapanos, and Trevor and Tehya Meagher; a brother, Roger St. Martin and his wife Barbara of Monson; a sister, Janine King of North Carolina; nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Dominic W. Scarglia of Webster.

She was born and raised in Webster, a daughter of Armand St. Martin and Margaret Szczepaniak) Sheridan, and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1952 and from David Hale Fanning School of Nursing in Worcester.

Georgette was a licensed practical nurse first at Webster District Hospital and then at Hubbard Regional Hospital. She so enjoyed serving her patients, especially in the office of Dr. Shankar Narayan and his wife Lakshmi, her dear friends, until her retirement in 1995.

Georgette cherished her faith and her family. Grammy "Gette" left a legacy of love and of kindness. The family wishes to thank the wonderful people of the VNA of Southern Worcester County and the VNA Hospice.

A memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace.

There are no calling hours. Donations in her name may be made either to Saint Joseph School, 53 Whitcomb St., or to the VNA of Southern Worcester County, PO Box 368, both in Webster, MA 01570. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
