Ronald Blain Fields, Sr., 80

WEBSTER - Ronald Blain Fields, Sr., 80, died Saturday, October 13, 2012 in his home with his family present.

He leaves his wife of 8 years, Carol A. (Godin) Ford-Fields; 5 children, Lori Beccia-Gorgone and her husband Michael Gorgone of Hudson, Lisa Veenhof and her husband Bernardus of Orrington, ME, Ronald B. Fields, Jr. and his wife Angel of Douglas, and Janet Edmonson  and Roy Belford, both of Virginia; 3 stepchildren, Linda Ford of San Francisco and John Ford and his wife Stacey and Thomas Ford, all of Falmouth, ME; 15 grandchildren;  2 great-granddaughters; and nephews and nieces.

He was born and raised in Chelsea, a son of Elmer B. and Helen (Stasiak) Fields. He lived in Webster since 2004. He earned his Associates Degree from Malden Business College.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He served as a sergeant and was discharged in 1958.

Mr. Fields was the assistant sales manager for the Independent Order of Foresters, Auburn Office, until he retired. He was a reserve deputy sheriff in Worcester County for many years and was a member of its search and rescue teams. He volunteered for the American Red Cross.  He enjoyed being a handyman. He loved taking long rides and eating at various restaurants.

Calling hours will be from 1:30 to 3:30 PM on Sunday, October 21, in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a funeral service at 3:30 PM in the funeral home. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will provide the military honors after the service. Donations in his name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
